This is cool

I like how all the different types of artists are shown here and the different styles they use... verry groovy. I specifically liked the intro (0-19) and (1:10 -1:24), very creative use of the strings in Orkester sound bank.

Overall awesome, and hey
I use Reason 4.0, I want in for the next one :-D
Peace

Excellent

Loved how the piece was written to be hopeful/sorrow at the same time.
Very interesting chord progression and at 1:11 def. caught the Moonlight Sonata reprise; like paying homage to the greats! :-D

The piano sound was very soft and even when you went into the lower register it was not overwhelming.

I also liked that the strings did not take away from the piano melody, which sometimes will tend to do.

The sudden tempo changes really added to the suspense, very well composed

Good MAC entry, I wish you luck for a good position!

Peace

Thanks for the comments, Flash, I really appreciate it. There's a lot really good entries for this one and I'm excited to see how it turns out. I'm glad you enjoyed this and recognized the moonlight sonata reference there. Thanks again!

Well

The beat is fucking tight as all hell, very nicely done
Lyrics are ok, but its not like anybody ever really listens to these anymore :-S
The rapper isn't all that good though, maybe if if he used a little bit more energy, the flow just isn't all that good. Try and feel the beat a little more, it just sounds like you are reading the lyrics. Good stuff still though,

who sound like reading the lyrics?

I'll try and make it a 9

Excellent song, I can see why SA might 'ave thought this was sampled, it sounds pretty damned professional. To be honest though, I think someone would be better of sampling this than anything else.
The balance is great, the instruments are awesome
Especially the bass, very fat sound
The drums had tons of energy, very cool stuff;

10/5'd, would love to hear more,
Peace

Hitman 2 OST

STOLEN!!

Heh no, I'm only kidding, its not, seriously!
This is a great piece of music, the only reason I mention the Hitman 2 OST is because this sounds like it was greatly inspired by "Relaxation". Awesome synth, awesome layering, great ambience, excellent job!!

10/5'd

Keep it up!

This is good but..

I think your band has surpassed/outgrown what the Audio Portal is for, I think this should be on a demo tape on its way to the top Alt. Rock record companies out there. Some will disagree, but that's my opinion.

Good luck in the pro. business world though! Sincerely, this is good. The guitar effects, particularly the delay, is very reminiscent of some contemporary rock bands like Creed.

Peace!

Nicely done.

Def. brought back some old memories of playing MechWarrior2, the first one, on PC not the console shitty one! For that I congratulate you on capturing the essence of those tracks. One question, how did you make the track sound "faded" or "antique"? It sounds like you did some EQ work on it to bring down the bass a whole lot, but im not sure, Lo-Fi im thinking??

Either way, great song, loved all of the series!

Nice piece!

So, first off, I give you props for straying away from the piano/guitar and trying out something more experimental for a sorrow theme. Everything was technically done very well I think, however I didn't -personally- feel/hear an emotion of "sadness" so much as an epic tribute to a fallen warrior. It wasn't so much the bagpipes nor any of the instruments (I've personally heard some tear bringing bagpipe music), for me it was more the chord progression, felt more epic than sad really.

Other than my own emotions though, this was a very well made track! It sounds like you spent quite a lot of time on it and the lenght of it was perfect -- I've been hearing it over and over for about 3 minutes and still not tired of it.

So well done, 10/5d

Draqo responds:

Yes I love me some epicness, yet I didn't want it to be joyful but more honorable while being sad.

Thanks for the awesome review. :D

Such a good song

This is such a good song, the end is just awesome too. It did remind me of a little bit around the end of the theme song to that movie "28 Weeks Later"
Excellent song all around,
Good Luck!

Peace

Woot my first request!

OK, i'm gonna take my time on this one and split the review, make it easier to read

Originality - I'll give you points on this, because it sounds like a sort of modern/classic mix; its not something that is completely new, but few can really pull it off, and you did, so I'd give for this an 8, its been done--but it takes some higher skill.

Technical - Of course the first thing anybody will bitch about technical-wise with this is the soundfont/patch that you used for the piano, strings etc. But I'll completely overlook that factor in this and rate solely based on the notes. The chord progression was good, it seemed to be leading somewhere and it completely changes by the third chord, which is good-- its not your typical arrangement. One complaint is that sometimes the middle layer of the piano playing sounds a bit out of place by the second and third chords, I would have personally brought that part down on volume and brought up the high and low parts a little more; in other words three things going on at once didn't sound too good, but only on certain chords. I will say the drums sound pretty tight, and the balance of the strings/choir/piano works excellently -9 for that

Arrangement - This is where this piece really shines, once it starts hitting the strings, you can clearly hear each part going on and each role that each instrument plays, which is a definite plus. I also liked the stacking method that you used putting together the piece, one stronger part comes in etc. - 10 here

Overall, I felt there was a distinct feeling of sadness, and a little bit of anger from that chord right before it resolves each time, almost an exclamation point saying "And your still not treating me right!" Or something like that, I dunno. Feelings I got from this were def. sadness, a little bit of anger; I didn't feel as much of a loss-of a loved one but more of an abused, troubled person. It was definitely the chord progression that did this.

My personal, overall score 9/10 -- 4/5

Good stuff! Hope you do well on the MAC!
