Woot my first request!
OK, i'm gonna take my time on this one and split the review, make it easier to read
Originality - I'll give you points on this, because it sounds like a sort of modern/classic mix; its not something that is completely new, but few can really pull it off, and you did, so I'd give for this an 8, its been done--but it takes some higher skill.
Technical - Of course the first thing anybody will bitch about technical-wise with this is the soundfont/patch that you used for the piano, strings etc. But I'll completely overlook that factor in this and rate solely based on the notes. The chord progression was good, it seemed to be leading somewhere and it completely changes by the third chord, which is good-- its not your typical arrangement. One complaint is that sometimes the middle layer of the piano playing sounds a bit out of place by the second and third chords, I would have personally brought that part down on volume and brought up the high and low parts a little more; in other words three things going on at once didn't sound too good, but only on certain chords. I will say the drums sound pretty tight, and the balance of the strings/choir/piano works excellently -9 for that
Arrangement - This is where this piece really shines, once it starts hitting the strings, you can clearly hear each part going on and each role that each instrument plays, which is a definite plus. I also liked the stacking method that you used putting together the piece, one stronger part comes in etc. - 10 here
Overall, I felt there was a distinct feeling of sadness, and a little bit of anger from that chord right before it resolves each time, almost an exclamation point saying "And your still not treating me right!" Or something like that, I dunno. Feelings I got from this were def. sadness, a little bit of anger; I didn't feel as much of a loss-of a loved one but more of an abused, troubled person. It was definitely the chord progression that did this.
My personal, overall score 9/10 -- 4/5
Good stuff! Hope you do well on the MAC!
